INTRODUCTION:
There are many artists who use nature to create their artwork, but one of the most well know is Andy Goldsworthy. Andy said in one of the videos below: "I really don't know what I'm going to do. It's about looking and learning and seeing and responding to the day, the material, and trying to understand a little bit of that day, that material, that place, that moment." MATERIALS: Sticks, stones, leaves, flowers, tree bark, grass, flowers, flower petals, etc. LEARN + CREATE! Watch the videos below to learn about Andy Goldsworthy and his artistic process. Go on a walk outside and collect bits of nature. ** DO NOT get in a flowing river like he did! He is a professional! Arrange the items and rearrange as you'd like. Leave outside for other people to enjoy, or return the items to nature. ←The photos to the left are student examples! INTRODUCTION:
There are many artists who use non-traditional art materials to create their artwork. Some artists use nature to create their art. Artist Andy Goldsworthy said: "I really don't know what I'm going to do. Idea 1 - Create a mobile! A mobile is a grouping of things that hang together. Collect sticks and other bits of nature to tie onto string or yarn to create a hanging piece of artwork. You could leave it natural or paint it. You could even add beads or other items to the mobiles. Idea 2 - Create a nature collage. Usually we think of cutting and gluing paper pieces to create a collage, but you can use things from nature. Leaves and flower petals work great for this project. You can glue them down onto paper or cardboard. If you have sticky contact paper (ask your parents!) you could also stick them right to that like this student artist is doing. SHARE: Take a photo and email me! I would love to see your creation! Think about the facial proportions that you learned and see if you can use those as you create your artwork. Now try a different portrait. Document your portrait. You could draw a picture of it or take a photo. Share it with someone at your house. Tell them about it. Leave your artwork for others to enjoy as they walk by or return the items to nature.
