INTRODUCTION:
People from all over the world, past and present, have created art. This project is inspired by an artist who saw different colors and shapes when he listened to music. MATERIALS: Paper Crayon or oil pastel Paint Or any other art materials you have Music LEARN + CREATE! Wassily Kandinsky was an artist who really enjoyed listening to music when he created his art. He added different lines, shapes, and colors depending on the instruments, notes, and tempo of the song. Watch the video to learn a little more about Kandinsky. 1. Gather your art materials 2. Turn on a song. Any song! 3. Listen to the song and create your art to go along with what is happening in the song. Is it a fast song? Slow song? Is it a happy song? Sad song? 4. Artists create artwork depending on the time period. Right now we are aren't going to our actual school building, but we can look for art around us! Jasper Johns included the letters of the alphabet in his artwork. Let's look for letters of the alphabet in our house or outside on a walk. MATERIALS: - Found objects or anything you find around your house or outside - Camera if you want to take photos of the letters you find. LEARN + CREATE! Jasper Johns is an artist who has created a lot of different artworks. Here is one artwork he created using the letters of the alphabet. Why do you think he made this artwork? Can you find all of the letters? Which ones are difficult to see? 1. Look around your house or go for a walk. Bring a camera if you want to take photos. 3. Go on a scavenger hunt and see how many letters you can find! Here are the letters I found on my walk. Take a photo of each letter and put them together in a google doc.
