Paper Mosaic Landscapes |
The 5th grade students at learned about mosaics and we talked about landforms, landscapes, and foreground, middle ground, and background. They sketched a few compositions in their sketchbooks and then chose their favorite to draw out on a larger paper. They worked on using a variety of shapes and a variety of shades of colors throughout their paper mosaic artwork.

Tree Silhouettes |
5th graders first learned about silhouettes and how to draw tree shapes. The students practiced drawing in their sketchbooks and then chose their favorite tree sketch to draw out on a larger sheet of paper. Once these were painted with black tempera, students learned about analogous colors and color blending with oil pastels for the colorful backgrounds!
November 2017 - These are now on display outside of the 5th grade classrooms. Be sure to stop by and take a look. |
